Required Materials:
- Velvet yarn or any yarn you have
- crochet hook size 4.00 mm
- Smaller yarn in green colour and crochet hook to make the stem. (I’m using 3.00 mm hook)
- tapertry needle
- scissors

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Part 1: Creating the Cherry/Orange (Body)
- Start with a Magic Ring:
- Make a magic ring.
- Crochet 5 single crochets (sc) into the magic ring.
Note: Insert your hook into the magic ring, yarn over, pull through (you’ll have two loops on the hook), yarn over again and pull through both loops to complete one single crochet.
- Pull the magic ring tightly to close the hole.
- Round 2 (Increase Round):
- Make 1 single crochet in the first stitch and place a stitch marker to mark the start of your round.
- In the same stitch, make another single crochet for an increase.
- Repeat the above step (2 single crochets in each stitch) for all 5 stitches in the round.
End Result: You will now have 10 stitches in this round.
- Round 3 (Decrease Round):
- Begin working decreases to close the ball shape.
- To decrease:
- Insert your hook into the first stitch, yarn over, pull through. (2 loops on the hook)
- Insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through. (Now you have 3 loops on the hook)
- Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.
- Repeat the above steps to make 5 decreases in total. By the end of this round, the hole will start closing.
- Closing the Remaining Hole:
- After completing the decreases (when only 5 stitches remain), use a slip stitch to join into the first stitch.
- Cut the yarn and leave a tail for sewing.
- Finishing with a Tapestry Needle:
- Using the tapestry needle, sew through only the front loops of the remaining stitches to close the hole tightly.
- Weave in the tail to hide it.

Part 2: Creating the Stem
- Begin with a Slip Knot and Chain the Stem:
- Create a slip knot on your hook.
- Make 5 chains.
- Cut the Yarn and Attach the Stem to the Body:
- After completing the chain, cut the yarn leaving a small tail.
- Use the tapestry needle to thread the tail through the body (cherry/orange).
- Secure and weave in the loose ends.
Final Step: Join and Assemble
- Attach the stem (green or brown chain) securely to the orange or cherry.
- Check the piece for any loose ends or open stitches and tuck them in neatly using your tapestry needle.
